ARGUMENTS
INTERFACEDESCRIPTIONmax() returns the maximum of the two integers a and b. USAGEmax() is a basic function that is used to determine the maximum of two integers. RETURNmax() returns the maximum of the two integers a and b. ERRORSCONTEXTmax() can be called from any context, including user context, module procedures, callouts, callbacks, soft interrupts (tasklets and bottom halves), and interrupt service routines. MP-STREAMSNOTICESThere are other versions of this function (or macro) avaliable from the Linux kernel. max() should not be used to compare unsigned sequence numbers. Portable STREAMS drivers and modules will only use max() to compare two integers. IMPLEMENTATIONmax() is implemented as an extern inline function as follows:
SEE ALSOBUGSCOMPATIBILITYmax() is compatible with SVR 4.2 MP DDI/DKI[1] and systems based on SVR 4.2 MP, with the following portability considerations:
See STREAMS(9) for more compatibility information. CONFORMANCEHISTORYmax() first appeared in SVR 3[4]. REFERENCES
